On the subject of appraisal of property: "it is not an art and it is not a science; in my opinion it is a mystery."

Who Is A Professional Gems And Jewelry Appraiser?
Although a Gemologist identifies and grades diamonds and gemstones, this does not qualify them as an appraiser.  An appraiser is a Graduate Gemologist or jeweler who has undergone Gemological training and holds a degree of special education in valuation methodologies.

CreditDiamonds Certified Gemologist Appraisers are highly skilled and demonstrate the highest level of knowledge and integrity. Since 1975, we have been providing fair market appraisals. Attention to detail and an absolute commitment to quality set us apart from our competition.

At CreditDiamonds, our extensive expertise in the field of jewelry appraisals will assure you a professional appraisal and the consulting service you deserve. Our customers, as well as lawyers and insurance companies, have come to rely upon the judgment of our GIA Certified Gemologists.

When you purchase an unmounted diamond from CreditDiamonds, it is accompanied by a complimentary detailed appraisal.  Your appraisal is professionally typed, includes a digital picture of your treasured jewelry, and is embossed with Kassab's personalized seal of perfection. This appraisal is also saved in our files for future upgrades.

How to read a diamond certificate:
Selecting the very best diamond is easy with an unlimited budget. However, selecting the diamond that is the best compromise of the four quality factors (Color, Clarity, Cut, Carat weight) and price involves careful consideration and thought. By understanding how expert gemologists judge the quality of gemstones using certification, and in turn, learning to read a diamond certificate, you can better understand what compromises you are willing to make in the final selection.

The diamond certificate is commonly referred to as a "cert." There are many institutions that specialize in the grading of diamonds. The most common are the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), American Gem Society (AGS) and the European Gemological Laboratory (EGL).

Each specific diamond is issued an identification number. A diamond report includes this, along with the date and time that the report was done and the instruments used to examine, describe, and grade the diamond. The report details the diamond's shape and cut, the clarity and color, and any other comments about the stone. There is also a diagram that plots the internal and external characteristics of the diamond.

Other Appraisals:
Besides diamonds, there are a variety of other items that can be appraised including other jewelry, antique or period jewelry, watches, coins, as well as silver flatware and hollowware. There are also a number of reasons for appraisals including fair market value (estate, auction collateral, donation, divorce), insurance, or liquidation for bankruptcy.
